This is from the bicycle site Old Roads: Serial number dating information for Motobecane's is very scarce. The best way to date a Moto is by the design and tubing used on the frame, the decals, paint scheme, components and component date codes. Serial number of the frame is on the right side of the bike - look down the seat post near the pedals. Vin numbers on Motobecane 7???? Rebel Moby / rebelmoby.

Rajiv malhotra on youtube. -- posted by Some manufacturers encode information into the serial number, but some just use sequential numbers. You can find information on the web in some cases, especially for collectible bikes, old Treks and Raleighs, for instance. I didn't find anything on Giants in a very quick search, but someone somewhere may have dug up or decoded the information. In some cases, you can get year of manufacture, frame size, and/or various other info from the serial number. Lifetime: 74,945 mi Member No.
